"The most important thing in life is showing up"
Gambling addict Conor O'Neill is in financial trouble. His friend Jimmy makes him an offer he can't refuse: he offers O'Neill $500 a week in exchange for coaching a youth baseball team from an underprivileged neighborhood. O'Neill has little experience, but is so desperate that he accepts the offer. Gradually he develops a bond with the children and with their attractive teacher.

That G-Baby was funny, but otherwise it was a bit too annoyingly clichéd film with a poorly acting Reeves, empty roles and mediocre direction.

Quite a cliché film, but to be honest it looked nice and the execution was also quite nice. The film may be a drama (sometimes quite gripping), but it is a light drama because I regularly had to laugh and smile. The cast actually does quite well and is fun and especially the kids steal the show.
PS Diane Lane looked deliciously sweet in this movie.

Keanu Reeves finds himself in financial trouble and forced to train a baseball team with underprivileged kids. In this way, of course, he gives a positive twist to his life and that of the children. Oh, and he falls in love with Diane Lane, which of course turns out to be mutual. Hard Ball's story is predictable, but Reeves's acting is strong, and the kids are so endearing that you'll quickly forgive the movie. The sentimental ending fits the film perfectly.
