Délicieux is a very fine print. Kind of a kids movie, but why should that be a problem? In any case, I readily went along with the diabolization of the nobility, which is really shown as an evil comic book: suspicion against the democratization of gastronomy, refusing to eat a meal in the presence of strangers. In terms of course, it is a bit like an American inspirational story, with all the familiar anchor points: the setback, the intrigue, the rags to riches side, an obligatory 'behind every great man, there's a woman'. It is also funny how, as befits a great historical film, the characters are not really in their time fragment, but give nods to the present all day long - which gives the film a welcome frivolous edge. In this way, for the sake of learning and entertainment, we are constantly made ostentatiously clear that the potato was not yet a staple food for the French in the 18th century, quite the contrary. When was gratin dauphinois invented? We'll learn about that in the next episode. However, we do see at some point how fries are invented, by a woman of course, or what did you think? The film also does not hesitate to rewrite history nicely at the end, suggesting that the opening of the gluttony was a key political moment in France's history - which suddenly created a class consciousness and the excesses of the Ancien Regime would no longer be tolerated. And so, dear little children, the French Revolution began.

Wonderful movie. Enjoyed it. And also got an appetite for a snack. Well made film, with some sidelines, so it doesn't get boring and is only about food. That that sweet girl could pass for a maid is of course nonsense. But we're not going to put salt on all snails... Ha ha ha.

Tasty dramedy about inventing food “à la carte”. In passing, the film emphasizes the eighteenth-century class differences between the common people and the (arrogant) nobility, which would eventually lead to the French Revolution in 1789. A nice, pleasant film with an unusual story.
