When Julia [Natalie Martin] informs Nicholas [Danny Miller] of the rumor that his girlfriend had sex with autistic Danny [Richard Pawulski], he decides to get revenge. Together with stoner Calvin [Reece Douglas], they go searching in the woods, where Danny camps for a night to obtain a boy scout badge.

The screenplay by directors Philip Escott and Craig Newman is based on true facts and makes it clear from the beginning that there will be a violent finale. The characterizations are strong, so the three conspirators never come across as caricatured psychopaths, although it is clear that Nicholas has some anger management issues (to say the least). The young cast is very effective in this small but intriguing horror thriller.

Unfortunately, the director duo is unable to match the solidity of the acting of the young cast in the look & feel of the film. It looks bare and uninspired, safe and not very authentic. And yet this bitter story would benefit greatly from a clear style choice. Also a bit cheaply written (for effect). Danny is very autistic and Nicholas is a very big dick... the nuances lie mainly with the other two characters, who make the conflict feel a little more natural. Less black/white (good/evil) especially.

Nothing special, it says true story, but it didn't happen like that at all. You can find out on the internet how it happened, not as in this film, which is clear. How horrible people can be...
