Martin and Hazel Quarrier are Protestant missionaries sent to the jungles of South America to convert the Native Americans. Upon their arrival, they meet the couple Leslie and Andy Huben, who are the heads of the American evangelical community there. Hazel is very afraid of the Indians, while Martin becomes immensely fascinated by them. They are soon joined by the American pilot, Lewis Moon, and his assistant Wolf. The Brazilian government has sent them to destroy the rainforest and drive the Indians off their land. But Lewis is attracted to young Andy.
