Quite a nice original drama with a separate (also bizarre) story. Unfortunately the execution (also quite prudish because there is no nudity in it) is not really successful because I didn't find it really catchy or gripping anywhere. It certainly wasn't due to the visual aspect, because the images (including the beach) regularly looked beautiful. Of the cast, the two mothers Naomi Watts and Robin Wright did well, but I found the two sons Xavier Samuel and James Frecheville very poor. All in all, nice to see once, but unfortunately nothing more.

“You are the only one who hasn't behaved badly.”

Reasonable. Two Mothers/Adoration has an interesting premise, and the beginning is still nice. But once the four characters (two girlfriends and their sons) find out that the other duo has slept together, it becomes a long-winded and repeating farce. When the sons meet women their own age and have children it gets a bit more interesting, and the scene where the two women find out what's going on is well done. But it comes a little too late.

Not a bad film, with beautiful people in a beautiful setting, but the script is rather noncommittal and the characters not exactly fascinating. The plot, about two girlfriends (Naomi Watts and Robin Wright) who have an affair with each other's sons, is provocative in concept, but the film actually keeps on rippling, with only a few dramatic situations towards the end. The two beautiful protagonists ensure that the whole remains afloat, but a little more depth wouldn't have hurt.
