Tropicália plot
"Silence is not an option"
Homage to the innovators of Brazilian music in the 1960s, such as Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil. Like the Brazilian modernists before them, the Tropicálistas believed in absorbing influences from the European and American avant-garde as well as traditional Afro-Brazilian and indigenous cultures, with the aim of creating contemporary music that was unprecedentedly hybrid. The music, with its unorthodox use of elements ranging from 'imported' electric guitars of the Beatles to traditional pífanos (flutes) of folk musicians, then had a profound effect on contemporary musicians.
