Operation Filmmaker plot
Not long after the fall of Baghdad in 2003, a young and charismatic film student, Muthana Mohmed, stands in the ruins of the city's film school and explains to an American television audience that his dream of becoming a filmmaker is once again shattered. First because of Saddam Hussein, now because of the American bombs. This brief appearance on MTV changes Muthana's life. In the United States, filmmaker Liev Schreiber stops zapping, fascinated by what he sees. Feeling guilty about the war he is against, he decides to give this unknown Iraqi boy the chance of a lifetime. Schreiber invites him to come to Prague and work as an intern on the film he is shooting there: Everything is Illuminated. Once on set, an uneasy atmosphere quickly arises due to too high expectations and differences in culture.
