A musical prodigy, Marvin Hamlisch was admitted to The Juilliard School of Music, the renowned New York conservatory, at the age of 6. Unlike his classmates, he was not attracted to Bach and Beethoven, but to Broadway. He focused his talent on musical, film and pop music and with success, because in 1974 he won no fewer than three Oscars for the music he composed for The Way We Were and The Sting.
