Marley plot
The documentary focuses on the life of one of the most influential musicians of the twentieth century: Robert Nesta Marley, better known as Bob Marley. The Jamaican-born rasta almost single-handedly made reggae music internationally known and was part of the legendary band The Wailers, with Bunny Livingston and Peter Tosh. He died in 1981 after his tragic battle with cancer.

What a different world than 'we' are used to. Many characteristic heads also among all the family members and musicians around Marley. Nice to have seen.
Marley's whole life had already ended before I was born. But some things are familiar. That part of his toe, of course his influence on 'politics' and somewhere also that he was so strict. Actually, I thought the latter was strange, because I didn't think it fit with the relaxed world there.
In the beginning we hear most of Marley, then we move on to a biography instead of 'autobiography'. Actually, I thought that was a shame. Of course the others also have plenty to say about Marley's life, but I would have preferred to hear or see more old interview material from the man himself.
I've never really been into his music. I don't quite like it. But it is perfect, for example, with the uber cozy end credits. By the way, I have to update my flag knowledge again. It has now gone away.

A film that goes further than just listing the hits of an artist. This is really about the battle he had to fight in Jamaica because of his skin color, his faith, his charisma towards others, the stamp he had abroad, ... Also his motives in certain actions and the things that were part of his life besides his music. But the lesser aspects as well as his exaggerated strictness and his licentious life, which gave him 11 children with 7 women. Although those downsides are of course relative and can be interpreted differently for everyone. The music was nice with the images edited at the right moments. And with sufficient visual material and sound fragments, this is a must for those who want to have an image of the best-known reggae artist.

Good documentary about the life of Bob Marley. A simple set-up of archive footage, lots of talking heads and of course the music. Despite this simple set-up and the long running time, the documentary never bores, as it concerned a fascinating life for this icon. Worth it as a non-fan.
