Mag Ik Je Aanraken? plot

Against the background of the pursuit of a more inclusive and equal society, Tamar van den Dop, together with actors, investigates how the depiction of intimacy in films has emerged in recent decades. What went wrong, when did it go well and how do we look back on this with today's knowledge? A young generation is growing up with the presence of an intimacy coordinator on set. But what does that do to an older generation? What contributes to better, more beautiful and exciting scenes?

Tamar van den Dop: "I haven't done many cunnilingus scenes yet. What is the relationship between cunnilingus and fucking?" It's striking that she doesn't ask "What is the relationship between blowjobs and fucking?" Because in my opinion there is just as little blowjob in films as there is cunnilingus.

The most favorite positions in the bedroom are still "doggy style" and "missionary", so it is quite logical that we see them most often in films.

But according to Van den Dop it is all misogynistic and it is all disaster from a male perspective; it is from a male perspective and therefore misogynistic. Then show examples of misogynistic sex scenes, because we won't get to see them. Then someone also said that sex in films is never realistic. No of course not. That's why it's called film. And thank God I don't say that.

Nowhere is a movie title mentioned or a specific scene shown. Only with Krabbé it becomes clear that it concerns De Vierde Man and Paul Verhoeven. Then invite Verhoeven himself, I think.

And having actors watch their own sex scenes, of course, causes discomfort and is unpleasant to watch.

Such an intimacy coordinator on set would then benefit the intimacy between actors, and as a result we get 'better' sex scenes. I think it depends more on who makes the film.

Actor/director Tamar van den Dop invited film actors from different generations to speak about their experiences with sex scenes. She shows them a sex scene they acted in and films the actors in close-up to see how they react. In doing so, she exposes the dramatically changed morality surrounding sex and examines the meaning of the so-called 'intimacy coordinator', who must monitor the physical and mental safety of the actors in question. Veteran Peter Faber thinks it is natural that the director takes on the task of 'intimacy coordinator', but acknowledges that sex scenes for women in the 70s and 80s could be very difficult. Fellow generation Jeroen Krabbé laughs a bit about the changing sexual morality, but in the end he is the one who hits the nail on the head. An excellent starting point for a serious conversation about sex, simulated or not. The only downside is the absence of contemporaries of Faber and Krabbe, such as Renée Soutendijk or Geert de Jong.
