By the end of his illustrious career, Deputy U.S. Marshal Bass Reeves was perhaps the Old West’s most distinguished lawman. He brought more than 3,000 outlaws to justice and served 32 years in law enforcement during Reconstruction following the Civil War. His is the story of a former slave turned legend of the law, which required escaping to freedom and braving the dangers of the West.
