HyperNormalisation plot

"They know we know they lie"

In HyperNormalisation, Adam Curtis shows how we have arrived in this strange time, in which uncertainty determines many lives and even those in power do not know what to do. Everything is happening that seems beyond our control: from the rise of Donald Trump to Brexit, the war in Syria, the refugee crisis, and seemingly random bombings. Curtis tries to explain not only why all this is happening, but also why we are unable to get a grip on the current reality. Western man has withdrawn into a simplified and often deceptive version of reality, but because this version surrounds us, we accept it as normal.

At a time when the media is paying more attention than ever to conspiracy theories, it is no longer possible to distinguish crazy paranoia from carefully researched and substantiated historical analysis. But this is the work of three-time BAFTA winner Adam Curtis and the analysis is so accurate that it will not be easy to substantively refute the sensational content of this documentary. In 1975, there is a financial crisis in New York and a meeting between US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and Syrian President Hafez al-Assad. These two events still shape the balance of political power worldwide. Ayatollah Khomeini, Muammar al-Qaddafi, Larry Fink, John Perry Barlow, Joseph Wiezenbaum, Akio Kashiwagi, Jess Marcum and Judea Pearl also played an important role in our thoughts and actions since 1975. You will discover how the action thriller [i]The Rock[ /i] with Sean Connery and Nicolas Cage led to the invasion of Iraq and what strategy is behind Donald Trump's contradictions. Very convincing and certainly food for thought and discussion. So not to be missed!
