Documentary about the origin, functioning and combat of the Mara Salvatrucha, generally regarded as the most dangerous corridor in the United States and Central America. The Mara Salvatrucha, also known as MS13, has its roots in the war in El Salvador. That's what the founders of the gang, meanwhile respectable heads of family, tell us. Interviews with former members, experts and crime fighters are interspersed with archive material and recent recordings of gang activity. Hijos de la Guerra outlines a complex situation surrounding the fastest growing gang in North and Central America, which now has some 100,000 members. The US and Salvadoran governments are cracking down on the gang. That approach (Plan Súper Duro Mano) backfires.
