Tim Bergling, better known as Avicii, is still one of the biggest names in electronic dance music (EDM). He made hits like Wake Me Up, Levels and Hey Brother, but also struggled with the balance between fame and being himself. At the age of 26, he stopped touring to focus on his well-being. The documentary lets Avicii speak for himself, through archive interviews he gave before his death in 2018. His story is supplemented with interviews with his parents, friends, colleagues and other artists, who together paint a portrait of a boy who conquered the world without realizing the extent of his impact.

Not the first documentary about Avicii, but again a good one. It remains sad how it went. A boy who was very talented in making music and also saw it as his passion, but perhaps was not made for the whole world around it of fame, success, meeting expectations. Praised by his colleagues, millions of fans all over the world ... the contrast with his own demons is great.
Almost his entire life passes in the documentary and he confirms that he was happiest when he was not yet so famous, when everything was still small and unforced. He pursued happiness that was not his, but the public mass. He just wanted to be and remain Tim.
I'm not a great music connoisseur or lover, but an Avicii song still does something to me somehow.

Impressive, often moving documentary about the much too young deceased EDM artist Tim Bergling, better known as Avicii. By means of intimate home videos and behind the scenes images a fascinating but at the same time deeply sad picture is sketched of an enthusiastic musician who became famous too quickly and could not cope with the pressure of the hectic life that came with it. Beautiful interviews with family, friends and colleagues only make the feeling of loss greater.

This film about avicii disappoints. It is as superficial as can be, so smoothly and under wrinkles strung together, that it has become a meaningless whole. Everything is dealt with at high speed, but therefore nothing is real. There was much more to be gained.
