2050 plot

According to climate scientists, the year 2050 will be a turning point in the history of our planet. While the seawater slowly but surely warms up, the ice in Antarctica is visibly melting. Adventurous Belgians have always felt a certain attraction to this gigantic ice field. '2050' not only tells the story of modern climate scientists at the Princess Elisabeth base, but also catapults the viewer back to the year 1898, when the Belgian explorer Adrien de Gerlache led the very first wintering mission to the South Pole with his ship Belgica.
