The Convincer plot
"Greetings from Kenosha, WI! Where Ordinary Folks Can Make a Killing"
Insurance broker Mickey Prohaska (Greg Kinnear) tries to find a way to relaunch his job, mend his relationship with his estranged wife, and leave the dreary Midwestern weather behind. This self-proclaimed master impostor believes sales is all about telling a story—all he needs is an idiot stupid enough to swallow it. He thinks he can get his hands on an old retired farmer who has something far more valuable to offer than an insurance commission: an extremely rare violin collecting dust in a corner of his farm. However, Mickey's scheme to deceive the old man spirals out of control and he becomes entangled in a web of deceit and moral ambiguity.
