The Last Word plot

"If you step on Danny Travis...you better use both feet."

Danny Travis (Richard Harris) is an Irish inventor and widower whose projects keep his family poor. He comes up with a plan when the government decides to demolish his house. He discovers that Governor Davis and other politicians are filling their pockets under the guise of urban renewal. Danny takes a television reporter hostage, leading to a media hype that portrays Danny as a likeable man.
