Film adaptation of Oscar Wilde's famous play. Jack Worthing lives in the countryside with Cecily Cardew, whose guardian he is. In town, however, he is known as Earnest and is in love with Gwendolyn Fairfax. Miss Fairfax's cousin is Algernon Moncrieff, who also goes by the name Earnest and goes to the countryside where he falls in love with Cecily.
