Nice feel-good movie with a message. For a two-hour film, the presentation of the many characters could have been better, but luckily it all works out in the end. It is a fine film that, thanks to the many side plots, does not bore for a moment. The dialogues are also full of subtle and sometimes black humor. Better than expected, just under 3.5*

“Everything will be all right in the end... If it's not all right then it's not yet the end.”

Nice. Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Wilkinson, Nighy, Wilton etc. All those British icons come together in a film that needs to get going, but then develops into an entertaining and heartwarming film. Humor, drama and romance, it's a movie where the focus is really on the characters, and with actors like that, it's an excellent choice. With India and the hotel as atmospheric locations. And with Dev Patel and Tina Desai, who also provide a funny rom-com subplot.

Didn't think it really came out well, especially the direction was below average. And this British star cast was kind of on autopilot; anyway I've seen a lot of them too often lately.

On the plus side, India is not portrayed too slick.
