Second String plot

"She believed in him. Now he must believe in himself to lead the team to the Super Bowl."

Coach Dichter is a professional American Football coach. He manages to lead his team, the Buffalo Bulls, to the playoffs. To put in a good performance, he is looking for a new reserve quarterback. As time is running out, his only option is exhausted quarterback Dan Heller. When star player Doug Flutie gets food poisoning just before the start, Heller finally gets a chance to prove himself to himself, the coach and the supporters.
