Ruthless People plot
"Sam Stone's wife has just been kidnapped... And he doesn't want her back!"
Sam married Barbara for her father's money, but the old man refused to die. But now the time has finally come, his father-in-law is dead and now he can gruesomely murder his wife in revenge for the years he had to tolerate her. However, he has to change his plan when she turns out to be kidnapped. If he warns the police they will kill her. He immediately informs the press and the police, but the kidnappers do not keep their word. And when his wife also becomes friends with the kidnappers and teams up with them against Sam, the situation only gets worse.

Successful comedy.
Funny situations, neatly worked out, with prime dialogues and an excellent Danny De Vito.
Bette Midler, in the role of the unwanted wife, is also really comical and really only really angry when her "market value" drops. And that's funny too.

Shame the comedies aren't made at this level anymore, you'll roll from one side of the couch to the other with laughter! At least for a large part of the viewers, especially boyfriend DeVito is on a roll. An entertaining man anyway, when you see him you have to laugh. Those "backhanded tricks" of his and how he tries to talk his way out of it. One of the best actors in this genre I've known! For this film really only praise and our rating was an average of 8.
