During World War II, American Corporal Jeffrey Dolan, who is stationed in England, is homesick. Jeffrey takes an Air Force plane to the United States without permission to see his wife Annie. He then wants to fly back to England with this aircraft. Only Annie knows that Jeffrey has been home for a few hours. Later, Annie discovers that she is pregnant. Making this public will get her husband, who was visiting her, in trouble. But if Annie doesn't make this known, the inhabitants of her village will unanimously condemn her...
