Posutoman Burusu plot
On his evening round, the dutiful postman Sawaki pays a visit to Noguchi, who has just cut off his little finger to be taken in by a yakuza gang. The little finger rolls off the table, into Sawaki's mail bag. When Sawaki opens all the mail that evening in a mad drunken stupor, he loses Noguchi's little finger. That's a problem, because Noguchi's yakuza boss wants the little finger so Noguchi can't sneak it back on later. The police now keep a close watch on Noguchi's house, turning the postman overnight into a prime suspect in a murder and drug case.
