"Boldly go."

Wendy sees life differently. She is independent, has a brilliant mind and a mischievous sense of humor. But Wendy also has autism. For her, people are incalculable creatures and the world is a confusing place. She has always had a hard time and just wants a chance to be accepted just like everyone else. Inspired by her caretaker Scottie, Wendy comes of age and escapes the nursing home to embark on a road trip, aiming to deliver her 500-page Star Trek script to a Hollywood competition.

Disappointment nonetheless. Sympathetic attempt to say something meaningful about autism, but it gets too stuck in good intentions. Starts well, with a nice extra for me that there are a lot of hints at the good old Star Trek, but otherwise it doesn't really come off, mediocre script. Two good actresses who I like to see at work, but Collette doesn't have much to do here and Fanning in the leading role is disappointing, acting a bit stiffly. As a little girl she once won my heart in Man on Fire and I am Sam, but as an adult actress she lacks conviction so far. All in all, not a completely successful film house production.

Despite the interesting story and Fanning's good acting, the film failed to captivate me at all. Completely unbelievable execution and at no point does the story manage to become interesting. The rest of the cast seems disinterested, perhaps also because of their very mediocre interpretation of their roles. 4/10

After Rain Man, also a female version of a main character with autism. In both

films on the road to Los Angeles. Some 'unlikely'

coincidences (The bus accident, the police officer knowing about the Klingon language)

and above all it has become a sweet film that does not really look for depth. But quite well

an enjoyable watch and I thought Fanning's acting was quite convincing. People with whom

she comes into contact with and who are not aware of her disability/disability respond

rather indifferent or stern and the film shows how difficult it is for such a person

to move in the complicated human world. The cute dog takes care of something else

extras and which, I think, also quickly reveals the director's intention:

Not a heavy drama, but above all a touching and sympathetic drama with the occasional comedy

Wink. Nice video indeed.
