Watched it 2nd time and it remains a fun movie!

The film was not directed by Woody but at the same time it feels like it, maybe because Woody is the writer?

In the meantime I have also watched Casablanca (not on my first viewing) and perhaps that is why I found it more fun to watch.

Play It Again, Sam feels a bit like an early example of what Woody would later do with Annie Hall.

Nice movie and a must see for all Woody Allen fans!

From a 3.5 to a 4!

Nice comedy and typical Allen, even though he didn't actually direct it.

Allen himself is particularly good as a clumsy man, who constantly gets himself into trouble, because of his clumsiness. Also nice that Diane Keaton plays in this. Not only does she play well, but just like in Allen's later film she also proves to have a strong chemistry with Allen. That also works a bit more pleasantly in certain situations.

I have to say that not everything is equally fun and there are also moments where it sometimes becomes very lame. In that respect, this is also very similar to Allen's earlier films, because they sometimes have that too. Fortunately, most of it works and especially the links to Casablanca and the associated references to the classic with Bogart can be called very successful.

Smooth, funny and sometimes a bit lame, but otherwise a successful romantic comedy.

Never knew that Woody Allen also played in films that he did not direct himself. This is one that has all the characteristics of an Allen film. Certainly not his least. His conversations with Humphry Bogart who regularly appeared in his fantasies were quite nice. For the rest, you have to like films with Woody Allen. I have never really been a fan of them. Exceptions aside (see Manhattan). This one is clearly in the middle range. Still better than the heavily overrated Anny Hall.
