Not very uplifting at all, but fortunately a not very annoying Die Hard with a Donut.

2.5*.

Paul Blart [Kevin James], despite his training as a police officer, has never progressed beyond a job as a security guard in a shopping center. There he is regularly the butt of shots, also because he takes his work very seriously. But that comes in handy when a group of criminals commit a robbery, evacuate the mall and hold a number of people hostage. One of the hostages is Amy [Jayma Mays], a woman Paul has a crush on. Due to a combination of circumstances, Paul is in a position to save the day. An overweight main character in a movie with Adam Sandler as producer so that makes for some lame jokes. But it's mostly about self-mockery and it's nice to see a comedy where the main character intelligently uses his supposed flaws to take out the criminals. Too bad the plot has nothing more original to offer.
