La Grande Vadrouille plot
During World War II, an English bomber is shot down by the Nazis over Paris. The three crew members narrowly escape death with their parachutes and end up in the heart of Paris. Two of them end up with respectively the naive, but extremely sympathetic Augustin (Bourvil) and the pretentious, constantly excited conductor Stanislas (Louis De Funès). The two Frenchmen help the soldiers get in touch with their superior (Terry Thomas). From then on, the roguish, constantly bickering duo find themselves in a spiral of extremely precarious situations.

One of the best French comedies ever made and certainly among the best of De Funes, in which he is paired, just as before in Le Corniaud, with that other French giant Bourvil.
Together they turned out to be even better than solo and it's a shame that it only stayed with these two films.
The interaction between the mischievous Bourvil and the temper frog De Funes is once again magnificent and produces a number of classic scenes.
Also a nice role for the typical English comedian Terry-Thomas.
Georges Auric was responsible for the atmospheric score.
For me, director Gérard Oury is THE man who is responsible for all the good French comedies of that time: Le Corniaud, La Grande Vadrouille, Le Cerveau, Les aventures de Rabbi Jacob...
A must for anyone who loves De Funes.

One of the best comedies ever made for me. With a masterly De Funès in one of his most famous roles. The jokes and pranks follow at a fast pace and the combination with Bourvil (their bickering sessions) is of course the ultimate. That was also the case in Le Corniaud. There is no word of wordiness here because this comedy is also full of action ... A building painter and a conductor help some English pilots who have landed right in the heart of Paris with their parachute That scene where he is in bed with that German officer is worth gold and that's just one of a long list of hilarious moments in this hilarious masterpiece. I think I've seen that movie 10 times now.

Unlike the last time, this time I did remember seeing this movie before. There are also very funny scenes. The film also runs at a good pace and does not get boring. It's a great comedy film, but I'm taking off half a star to get it back to three stars. It's not that special after all.
