Kaboom plot

"Blow your mind."

'Kaboom' tells the story of Smith, a bisexual 18-year-old freshman who stumbles upon a monstrous plot in a seemingly idyllic Southern California coastal town. Influenced by hallucinogenic cookies he ate at a party, Smith is convinced he witnessed the horrific murder of an enigmatic red-haired girl who haunts him in his dreams. What he discovers in his attempt to uncover the truth leads him ever deeper into a mystery that will change not only the course of his young life but the fate of the entire world...

Cute Araki.

After Mysterious Skin, I never really saw anything from the best man, I don't know why. From what I remember it is of a completely different caliber than this Kaboom. Strikingly colorful and cheerful this video, could appreciate it.

Starts somewhat bland, but soon some absurd elements creep into the film that make it all a bit more attractive. Masked gangs, soap drama and witchcraft and a mysterious disappearance, all mixed into one big mess that is heading for a silly but very charming ending.

I find the American college scene slightly less, but otherwise a fun, colorful and fresh film that wisely shuts down the engine after 90 minutes. I think I'll try a few more Araki's soon.

3.5*

This time a more playful Araki, and that's putting it mildly. This exuberant farce with flamboyant characters managed to charm me in any case. The result is especially corresponding to the poster: one big colorful mess.

Throughout the film, a bevy of colorful types pass by, who are still quite nicely portrayed in all their blandness. The fun radiates from almost every frame. The story really hits dirk like shit, the accompanying logic of which can be classified as 'not present', but the film clearly aims for that. Though I thought the finale was a bit of a downer.

All in all an entertaining roller coaster ride. 3.0*, thick.

What a weird movie!

There are some positives: a good pace, bizarre story that continues to arouse curiosity (unfortunately this ends in a fiasco because there is no story at all), colorful characters and beautiful ladies.

Unfortunately a lot of the same. ABC interchangeable sex scenes are constantly applied without any respect. Just fucking is the way to deal with people, it doesn't involve feelings. Fortunately, there is so much friendship in the film that they can all place this.

But if you choose that, it can also be spicier. Now it's all very well done, too bad about all those perfect bodies and beautiful women. And the story...I can taste mysterious and bizarre, but the whole setup of the story actually leads to nothing and especially to a very weak ending. Too bad that the music was no longer used in the film because I can taste Placebo.

Not an unsatisfactory in view of the long lasting interest that unfortunately degenerates into a major setback. So given the positives still a 5/10
