"ROMANCE strikes straight across the plate!"
Frank 'Butterfingers' Maguire (Lloyd Nolan) takes on an unknown and unnamed Brooklyn baseball team and makes it to the World Series. However, the players cannot appreciate his way of training and playing. When Frank falls in love with the team's beautiful owner, they use it as a pretext to get rid of their trainer. Despite their opposition, Frank manages to make the team champion. The story is based on the Brooklyn Dodgers' championship in 1941.
