Yes, this was fun indeed. Random chose to watch and had a lot of fun with it.

Another movie where you think: What would I do in such a situation? How would I feel or behave, locked up with a bunch of strange people? You get to know the characters better and better and the claustrophobic setting (especially in the basement and the sewer strong) also manages to hold the attention. Soon I started to wonder "who, what and why" and I was not even one step further with the credits. If anyone has a theory about the ending, be my guest please.

Sátur was my favorite (dear guy), Trini annoyed me immensely with her thoughtless and rude actions and I had seen the psychotic Jesus after a while, but I still sympathized with them and I was curious how they would do it .

That ending just doesn't sink in for me yet and leaves me with question marks. A bit of a shame, but otherwise nice to see.

Spain's somewhat recognized gem.

de la Iglesia is such a director who always manages to make something fun. This is my 6th and still not a bad movie. He is someone who likes to work with genre elements, but always does his own thing with it. He also rarely stays within the same genre.

El Bar is such a film that largely takes place in one location. A number of people who are trapped in a building without knowing exactly what is happening outside. Different types together who try to find out what is going on and how they can get out of their predicament.

The first part of the movie is a bit slow, but as the survivor count goes down it gets more fun. That hysteria is what makes de la Iglesia films so much fun. The bum is a really great character, but that beardy fella also easily transcends his own limits. That whole finale in the sewers is absolutely worth it.

It could all be just a little crazier, de la Iglesia himself already showed in previous films. But otherwise this is really top entertainment from a great director. It's nice that Netflix has an eye for this man and occasionally picks up a video of him.

3.5*

Kind of like a dime a dozen movie but with a surprisingly witty and weird side. I had to laugh a lot at one of the first scenes where everyone gathered and the homeless man stormed in screaming. Yes, the Spaniards live up to their reputation as a hysterical folk here. Fortunately it didn't really bother me, Spanish is one of the few languages in which I can tolerate such yelling. And 'hijo de putaa!' also just sounds funnier than 'son of ab*tch'.

The story sometimes took strange turns and was therefore not completely predictable, which is positive. Only when it became clear that it was an infection and they were 'infected' did the masks start to fall off. I've seen Mario Casas play before, he seems to be cast more often as the two-faced bastard, so that wasn't really surprising. Every character was clearly portrayed, some even a bit too characteristic. Still, it was a matter of guessing where they were going and what was going to happen next. The ending didn't really appeal to me.

I also often thought of theater, the red curtains were just not there at the end of a scene and there was regularly exaggerated gesticulation and thinking aloud. Yet there were also quite exciting parts, especially towards the end it became a bit darker and rougher. But you can't really call it innovative or serious. Just watch and don't think too much about it.
