Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis plot

Philippe Abrams is post-director in Salon-de-Provence. He is married to Julie, whose bouts of depression make life nearly impossible for him. To please his wife, he tries to be transferred to the Côte d'Azur. But his plan fails and as punishment he is sent to work in Bergues, a farming village in the north. Abrams is not in the least eager to move to what he considers a terrible region. It soon becomes apparent that the image he has of the north is not entirely in line with reality.

Very entertaining comedy that includes all the necessary elements, including the romantic touches. Recommended for anyone who wants to dream away for a while and just want to enjoy a nice movie.

Pretty fun amusing French comedy like there are others. The focus is on the misunderstandings, prejudices and clichés of regional cultures in the north and south of France. Everything is exaggerated a bit, but au fond humor and light-heartedness continue to prevail.

Very entertaining with a brisk pace. The little secret that Philippe has with regard to his wife is also nice, but of course difficult to keep up. The film also pokes fun at the quota standards a bit without being harshly criticized.

Pleasant and pleasant, that's how you can describe the film. Nice renditions. Nice to have seen.

I hardly speak French and have no particular affinity with France. For that reason, the many language jokes from 'Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis' (2008) pass me by and I don't really care what 'culture gap' is suggested between different French provinces. How often can a person take the joke that it is so cold in the north of France? I had to chuckle just once as postmen Philippe Abrams (Kad Merad) and Antoine Bailleul (Dany Boon) cycle diligently from door to door and get a drink on arrival. The joke is easy to guess: they cycle more and more crookedly and start to speak with a double tongue. Hi-láaáá-risch!
