What a lot of lame comedies were made in the 60s that are actually not worth watching. This one actually falls under that, but the colorful visual execution compensates for a few things. The film now looks very old-fashioned. The film indeed resembles a farce and the role of Zero Mostel could easily have been played by Piet Bambergen, who also looked a bit like it. Singing the backward and bland songs didn't have to be done by me.

In terms of story, it's all little and as said, the humor is very bland and childish, so there was hardly anything to laugh about. It was nice to see some veterans again, such as Jack Gilford, the legendary Buster Keaton in his last film role and Michael Crawford.

I saw this movie on MGM.

A light-hearted comedy with some musical fragments.

This was the last movie for Buster Keaton. He died on February 1, 1966 at the age of 70. For Leon Greene, this was the first film in which the actor appeared. Michael Crawford did most of the stunts himself. This in contrast to Keaton who largely had a stuntman. Except for one scene where he jumps into a tree, only to fall out.

The film contains a few musical moments, but unfortunately not all of them were used. Especially since musicals started to lose their popularity in the late 1960s. Still, he won an Oscar for best film music. Furthermore, there was no escaping flying on the set. All this had to do with the amount of fruit and vegetables that was used. These often lay in the sun for hours to rot. Nevertheless, the film manages to keep enough humor in the story.

3.5 *
