Good film about a teacher and his wife who are both attracted to a student. The professor's inventions and creations are featured, but it is the fascinating and complicated love triangle that is central here. It sometimes falls a bit towards the end. Good acting from the three leads, especially Rebecca Hall.

Pretty nice.

There are more of these types of films of course, I recently saw one about Bettie Page. The prudish America that pushes through its censorship, pop culture that has its origins in the seedier depths of human instincts. And all this in a classic setting that still looks quite modern.

Robinson manages to make a nice film, although the script sometimes feels a bit too Hollywood. The acting is also quite good, visually the film looks nice and the drama in between also works. All in all, not much to complain about.

Except that this film doesn't really have any standouts. It's all pretty well-behaved, despite the subject matter. Furthermore, it is a bit sad to see what remains of the entire Wonder Woman heritage. They may not have defeated her, but American censorship won in the end.

Intriguing film in which the unconventional role of the protagonist shows that thinking and doing differently, off the beaten track, leads to discoveries and inventions. All this is linked to the interaction in all areas between 3 people who are in a continuous exploration of themselves and the other and with each other. This already leads to a cartoon character with a woman as hero, equipped with a whip and the skills of bondage with her enemies, which is reflected within the relationship triangle of the actors. Well made, almost European and perhaps that is why it is almost completely inglorious in the USA. Completely unjustified.
