The film's intro, which shows Carl and his wife's life in flashbacks, is one of the most beautiful pieces of animation I've ever seen. After that the level drops a bit, but nevertheless this is again a very nice film from Pixar.

A bit disappointing. You could already see from the poster that the film could be unbelievable, but so many unrealistic things happen that it is actually too much of a good thing. Take for example the old man who comes down on a stairlift at the beginning of the movie and who manages to climb rocks an hour later. Not to mention a flying house, talking dogs, etc. There are plenty of unbelievable things, but all in all it's a moving film. The story behind it is pretty standard.

Of course there are also positive things to mention, for example, the character development of the grandfather and his wife Ellie went well because I felt for the poor wretch. Graphically, this film is of course very strongly designed, but more is needed for a successful animation film.
Many parts of the film were just too weak in terms of dialogue and humor. I thought the beginning was the strongest, but that level is no longer reached. They tried to bring humor with the rude actions of that boy, unfortunately I found that more pathetic for that boy than funny.

The music does its job well, especially in the moments when the good old man looks in his adventure book and thinks back to his Ellie.

“That might sound boring, but I think the boring stuff is the stuff I remember the most.”

The first ten minutes of Up are pure perfection. After that it becomes a bit more conventional (for an animated film), but it remains a fun adventure with lots of humor, colorful characters and sentiment. Solid ingredients in a Pixar movie, and it works great for the most part. That's also because the animation looks fantastic again, and there are still some original and inventive scenes in it.
