For me, along with the Lion King, this is the best Disney has to offer. Beautiful romantic story and delightful villains, what a frightening figure that Ursula is. 5 stars

As a little boy I turned The Little Mermaid gray. Hours and hours I could enjoy this Disney. In my opinion one of the best productions of that time together with The lion king, although there are still a few. Such Disney productions were often laced with songs that make it seem like a half musical. A bit corny that way, but it works. "Deep in the sea" by the sweet crab Sebastiaan has been haunting my head for days. But the other songs like "Kiss Me Then" are still great.

The film has pretty much everything: fine excellent characters led by Sebastian, Jutter, Flounder, the majestic Triton, the terrible terrifying Ursula with her greasy smile, the twin murals, etc. Ariel is also a beautiful sight and as a child I was secretly in love with it. Of all the beauties she was the cream of the crop! Only Erik's character was a bit dull.

The film is a succession of song, action, drama, tension, but above all humor. Some nice moments such as the scene between the cook and Sebastian. Beautiful colorful images also of the sea. Finding Nemo clearly got its inspiration here, where in addition to the colorful seas, Botje and Jutter were also looked at. The Little Mermaid is an old-fashioned classic. Nice to see him again.

Revisiting this one, in Dutch for an extra touch of nostalgia. It's been a long time since I've seen it, but it's still rock solid.

The film excels in animation, music and characters. The story is actually too sweet for my taste, but the cheerful and funny side characters provide enough distraction. Sebastiaan steals the show, but Jutter and Louie also provide a comic relief. In dark contrast is Ursula who is a fantastic villain and excellently voiced by Ma Flodder. Provides the necessary spooky scenes.

I also used to think the music was very strong. The opening scene alone, where the ship looms up and sails by, already gives some more power to the score. In addition, many songs are very strong, with Diep in de Zee as the highlight. And yes, of course I also know it in English where it sounds even better.

Great to see those scenes that have haunted my head all these years again. Such a shark chase and sinking ship are quite impressive for a koter.
