In the mystical land of Predanie, a young boy Taran takes on a heroic task. Along with a magical sword, Taran must prevent the evil Horn King from summoning the supernatural powers of a mysterious cauldron. Aided by the beautiful princess Elonie, the furry creature Gorgi and a clairvoyant pig, Taran must defeat his fearsome foe. Along the way, he learns the power of friendship.

I think The Black Cauldron along with movies like The Rescuers, The Fox and the Hound, Pinocchio, The Aristocats, The Great Mouse Detective and Snowwhite are the best Disney movies. and after Star wars, Watership Down, Stargate and Indiana Jones it's even my favorite movie ever!
The Black Cauldron is a LOTR like Dinsey, very exciting. very nice bright backgrounds. a fun and exciting story. not really for the faintest, I'd say 9+.
The first film with the APT process, first animated film with CGI, one of the only animated films with a cult status, Inspiration for Peter Jackson, Inspiration for JK Rowling, was more than 12 years in the making (1974 to 1985) , cost over $44,000,000!, Debut for Tim Burton and Andreas Deja.

One of the worst Disney's I've ever seen and not because of the grim atmosphere, because that's about the only good thing. But what a flat characters and every 5 minutes someone new is introduced who adds little or nothing to the story. The story itself lacks all structure and goes from scratch. The ending is a huge anticlimax and just laughable.

Nice Disney movie. A bit darker and more exciting than the average fairy tales that Disney normally makes.
I used to love the Horn King. And always tried to copy it. Also the army that consisted of skeletons was my favorite scene.
Unfortunately, there are also annoying characters in it, such as the elves, Gorgi and the man with the harp.
This film does not come close to the classics, such as Snow White or Bambi, but still a good film.
Saw it in the cinema with my father once.
