Barney [Jack Dylan Grazer] feels like an outsider at a school where everyone walks around with the latest Bubblebot that programmer Marc [Justice Smith] has launched on the market. Barney's father Graham [Ed Helms] and grandmother [Olivia Colman] don't see anything in media at all. Still, Graham thinks he can make his son happy with a Bubblebot and Barney is therefore extremely enthusiastic about his new 'friend' whom he christens Ron. Ron looks a lot like Baymax from Big Hero 6 and that actually applies to the entire film, but this is inferior on all fronts and is nothing more than a pathetic imitation. The ambivalent attitude towards robots and social media suggests that the makers did not want to offend the tech giants too much.

Nice but not very original animated film about the friendship between a shy boy and the crazy robot he gets for his birthday. Many elements are 'borrowed' from other animated films, but due to the excellent voice cast, the attractive animation style and the high tempo there is still enough to enjoy. Many funny jokes too.

I would definitely put a Like sticker on this movie.
There is not much to dislike in this movie. I laughed a lot while watching Ron's Gone Wrong. The "It pooped me out" scene is gold. The story is heartwarming and the voice acting is very good. The only thing Ron's Gone Wrong does go wrong in is that it sometimes wants to sound too much like a Disney movie. Something the movie certainly does not need.
