Disappointing.

Especially because the story offers a nice variation on more famous legends and figures and the fantasy elements are also properly developed. It's not terribly original or overwhelming, but it still looks pretty fun and atmospheric. And that is by no means a certainty with this type of production.

It is therefore a pity that the characters are so terribly flat and irritating and that the humor really goes wrong. What a terribly annoying bunch. The dub doesn't help either, there are some well-known names who have no dubbing talent at all, but mainly have to put on the poster to attract people.

The result is a film with potential, but which ultimately feels bulky and cheap. Too bad they had to make it all a bit more childish, otherwise this could have been a nice movie. Yet another victim of Pixar's success.

Beautiful/colorful animation. Excellent voices, especially Alec Baldwin, who you hardly recognize with his Russian accent. First 45 minutes of fun and a decent pace, it even reminded me of the Rankin/Bass Christmas/magic movies from the 70's/80's.

But the biggest disadvantage is that this story is totally not suitable to be stretched over an hour and a half, I was seriously relieved when the credits finally appeared because it became a long sit in the 2nd half. The reason I mention Rankin/Bass is also that they were videos of 45-50 minutes and that is also long enough, half an hour less could have done this film a lot of good

2*
