I didn't think Cars was that bad. Not the best, but a pleasant animation. So also curious about Planes of course. And Planes is pretty much Cars 3. The distant sequel that you already know is AND commercially required AND low budget. That's what this movie feels like. Little inspiration and ugly drawn with moments. I can give animation a lot of credit if it can amuse me towards guilty pleasure. But this film doesn't just miss the ball, it just loses the ball.

I would never accuse Disney of metaphorically milking a cashcow, but this really hit everything. A shameless copy of the plot of "Cars" (which was already not from the top Pixar shelf), supplemented with equally uninspiring animation. I want to put my hand in the fire that Disney is now writing down all the plot of Cars meets Planes on a piece of paper somewhere.1,5*

Saw it in the cinema at the time. All in all, it's nice to watch, provided you don't think too much or get annoyed by nonsensical plots that have already been chewed on. Disney has come a long way and Disney makes the same mistake as Dreamworks at the time of looking too much at Pixar's "Finding Nemo" with Shark Tale. Here you have the same feeling with "Cars" from Pixar.

We have also had the idea to start from the "loser to hero" principle many times and it really took off here. For children, on the other hand, it remains entertaining, but for adults it may be something more than just living on clichés and sentiment. But they won't care, because the movie was quite popular, not to mention the merchandising about it.

The animations look decent and the music is also quite ok. The plot is too predictable and most of the characters don't catch on and can be stolen from me. Also the story of Ripper was not very interesting to me. The young children, including my son, loved it. That also makes me happy, but it doesn't affect my odds, too bad.
