The magical kingdom of Lucis is home to the sacred Crystal, but that doesn't stop the Niflheim Empire from appropriating it. The war between the two has been raging for as long as one can remember. King Regis of Lucis leads a group of elite soldiers called the Kingsglaive. Elite, because they can and should wield the king's magic. Nyx Ulric and his fellow soldiers are engaged in a battle for the city of Insomnia. The empire's overwhelming military might is causing tensions and King Regis can only accept an ultimatum. He must surrender all land outside the capital Insomnia and marry his son, Prince Noctis, to Lady Lynafreya, the former princess of Tenebrae and now captured by Niflheim. The violence and the supremacy of the Niflheim machines transform Insomnia into a battlefield and Nyx tries to save his kingdom.

Beautifully beautiful movie.
The CGI of the Final Fantasy movies is always top shelf, and now that shelf is in the attic 
Because it looks beautiful again, sometimes realistic really.
I also find the story entertaining and captivating.
And then to complete it the wonderful abundance of action and combat.
Everything is epic as it should be for a FF movie...Bravo

Dazzling animated spectacle, a mix between fairy-tale fantasy and war-oriented science fiction. I don't know the game this is based on, but at least the plot is easy to follow. The voice cast can also get through with it. Here and there a twitchy moment, but the film offers enough visually overwhelming bombast to compensate for this.

What about searching on Netflix under category 'visually striking' and bumped into this title. As a fan of SF and because of the lack of something new, I decided to try this animation film. Something I would normally never choose. But am more than pleasantly surprised. I don't understand why people made an animation of this film, because it is so realistic at times that you don't even realize it's animation anymore. Everything must have been played by actors to achieve such realism. Plus I've seen movies with real actors where the CGI was worse than this one. Can be called very successful. Must have been expensive production. Nice storyline and very nice settings. The only downside was the chaotic and bombastic ending where you sometimes lost a bit of grip and it was difficult to follow. You also occasionally miss true feelings and emotions because of the animation. Enjoyed this SF spectacle. And this without any prior knowledge of the games. Definitely wait for the credits for a little extra. In short, if animation film of this level and realism, I would like to venture more into this genre… 3.5 *
