Chicken Run plot

"This ain't no chick flick. It's poultry in motion."

England in the 1950s. A seemingly ordinary chicken farm in rural York. But behind the barbed wire, true terror reigns. The hen house suffers from the reign of terror of the stingy farmer's wife Mrs. Tweedy, who always and everywhere wants a piece of the cake. Thus, any chicken that does not lay an egg in time will inexorably end up in the pan. Now she has come up with a plan to start selling chicken patties. But the chickens can't take it any longer. Led by Ginger, they revolt. After countless very creative but unsuccessful escape attempts, rescue comes unexpectedly. The tough rooster Rocky works for a circus and thinks he is the right person to teach the chickens to fly...

Very fun, amusing and entertaining movie.

Wonderful combination of sets and clay animation. The camera pans add a lot to the viewer and make the whole a lot more dynamic. The animation itself is beautifully finished and the details are numerous.

The story is also very funny, especially when the big wink (which it is) comes across. Lacks a little bit of spice, but is saved by a limited playing time and some phenomenal scenes such as the flight training, the chicken pie machine and building the plane.

Of course only to watch with original voice acting, but that seems clear to me. I had a great time, and I also fully agree with FK (although a top 100 listing is just a bit too high). 4*

At least the third time I've seen this movie, and I've probably seen it more than once. But it was a while ago! I didn't really think about it the first few times, but the way that farm is designed is very reminiscent of a concentration camp. mrs. Tweedy who joins as a camp commander completes the picture in that respect.

Furthermore, it looks very cool, it is all beautifully designed with a lot of detail; the story appeals to the imagination and does not bore for a moment, and the film also has the necessary humor. I especially liked the different accents, but also plenty of visual jokes. Perhaps compared to later films by the same makers (Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep) the animation is a bit less fluid, but I can't compare that well because for some reason I don't like those films. always missed out.

But the most important thing is that this film was clearly made with a lot of attention and love, and that is worth a lot. In my case 4*.

“All me life flashed before me eyes.”

“It was really boring.”

Great animation film. The use of stop-motion provides an impressive spectacle again, and the facial expressions of the chickens are especially well done. The story is not very special, and even with a running time of 85 minutes there were some long-winded parts. But especially the scenes where Rocky and Ginger end up in a machine/conveyor belt are really fantastic. Just like the last part with the chickens who want to flee their hopeless and deadly situation and fly away. Very nicely done.
