Wow, what a crappy movie...

Really for a children's film, not an adult...

Bad acting...

Not recommended...

No 3-D seen...

A Rodriguez family movie.

Well yes. It should be clear that 99% of MM does not belong to the target group of this film. It is therefore a real children's film, with little or no appeal for adults (although there will be people left and right who still find it funny).

Still, he joined in, if only to plug some holes in his oeuvre. I also saw the first Spy Kids, that wasn't much, but still 100 times better than this. Rodriguez really goes in the corny and cheesy direction here.

The CG resembles that of a cheap TV animation, the actors are overly active, happy and hyper (with a young Lautner, for the fans) and the story goes nowhere. It's nice that his 7-year-old son wrote it and all, but whether you should bother your audience with that... on the other hand, the trophy for the most deus ex machinas in a single film. Easy of course if you can just dream everything together.

I'm not going to say too much about it other than that. It is likely that younger children will still find it a fun adventure and will not be bothered by the cheap way in which everything is put together, it is also a classic adventure that can appeal, but as a director you can also make children's films that also have something to offer adults. have, and this is definitely not that.

0.5*

The fact that the content comes from the mind of a 7-year-old isn't entirely surprising, but the fact that director Robert Rodriguez threw 50 million at this project is. He must have taken home a few million, because the very substandard computer effects are inexplicable with that much money. Extremely ugly design and far too overwhelming, which means that many of the action scenes barely make sense. The acting of the children, on the other hand, is quite okay and the adventurous images follow each other well, but I doubt whether Rodriguez took a critical look at himself during the production. For a film with 'science' as a central theme (aside from all the imposed morality), a number of images make no sense. Tornadoes chase walls out of buildings, but children simply remain unscathed in the storm without a breeze blowing through their hair. Lazy direction and an abominable visual effect, although I suspect that the little ones can have a great time with this.
