Remains a good adventure film for me, even now that I saw it again this week on the smaller screen after so many years. Nicely fast tempo, mindless entertainment perhaps but qualitatively better and certainly more amusing than comparable films with men like The Rock in the past or Schwarzenegger (much earlier) in the lead role. The only downsides are that the special effects have no added value, the film could have done without it. Gyllenhaal, Kingsley, Arterton and Molina are all well cast, it's just a shame that these Persians sometimes debit their sentences with such an obvious English accent. Director Newell nevertheless shows that he also has mastered this genre, it is remarkable that this print, which was positively received at the time, never got a sequel.

Movie review on TV. Atmospheric adventure film. Beautiful scenes from the Persian era. Visually ok. Story a bit thin, but that doesn't matter for this genre. Successful movie night.

Mediocre but in its genre quite okay. Plot is ridiculous, a bit much action too, but that's common in this corner. The two protagonists make up for a lot.
