Yes, I am a fan of the 'triology'. I found part 2 a bit disappointing, the last part certainly makes up for it. Nice characters, full of humor, for me the picture is right. Nice to see Williams again. Part 3 was a worthy conclusion. *3.5

Revisited the entire Night at the Museum series a few weeks ago and this third part for the first time. When the original came out I thought it was a very nice movie, but I have to say that the movie has lost some of its power. That probably has to do with my age as well as a bit of dating, but nevertheless the first film remains an entertaining one. Part 2 is significantly less good, but still enjoyable due to the many and smooth action.

Secret of the Tomb is clearly the weakest link in my opinion. I think it's wonderful that this part takes place in my favorite city, London, but it's still too much of a repetition of moves. Jokes are endlessly rehashed (the ones where Jedediah and Octavius are opposed by something that 'the grown-ups' hardly notice is really no longer possible) and the jokes that are new ('Laaa') rarely catch on. In any case, in my opinion this is more of an adventure film than a comedy, because I rarely if ever get beyond a grin. I liked Ben Stiller in the first two parts, but here he doesn't seem to enjoy it much anymore. Larry is no longer surprised and that takes some of the tension away. It is of course nice that they largely manage to keep the cast from the previous parts, including again a nice Robin Williams, together. It was a smart move to bring the old acquaintances to London.

This third part is not an annoying sit, but there is a lot wrong with it. I feel like there could have been a little more out of it. A Lancelot traveling through London at night, while the others are chasing him... I think you can do a bit more with that. It all looks easy and remains entertaining, but at the same time it adds nothing to the two predecessors.

2.5*

The lemon has been squeezed.

As a young teenager I saw the first part in the cinema at the time. We are now quite a few years - and therefore also sequels - further and the fat is really gone. They have become assembly line films, which basically always do the same thing, sometimes with a bit more noise or bustle than the previous ones. Apparently no sequel has been made since this third installment, so it is to be hoped that they will leave it at that. Then this can still be somewhat of a worthy closing.
