Himalaya - L'Enfance d'un Chef plot
The inhabitants of a village in the Himalayas largely live on the yield of the salt that they extract from the mountain lakes. When the leader of the salt caravan is killed in an accident, the second man, Karma, wants to succeed him. But the old village chief Tinlé, the victim's father, believes that his grandson is the rightful successor. Karma gets the youth of the village behind him. He hastily prepares a new caravan to anticipate an approaching storm. Tinlé, however, consults the gods to determine the moment of departure for a caravan that he wants to undertake with his grandson and his second son, a Buddhist monk.
