Former car thief Brian O'Connor [Paul Walker] now uses his special skills in the service of the police by pretending to be a car mechanic and street racer. Vin Diesel definitely made his name as the action hero of the 21st century in a sharply edited, fast paced action thriller that stars Michelle Rodriguez as Dominic's suspicious girlfriend Letty. Its multicultural cast and gender equality was very unusual for the time, but only contributed to the huge international success of this entertaining film and a franchise whose popularity continues to this day. The car stunts aren't bad either. Sequel: 2 Fast 2 Furious, although Diesel and Rodriguez would not return until the fourth film in the series (Fast & Furious).

For me personally this is the best Fast and the Furious movie. This film (along with 2 Fast 2 Furious and Tokyo Drift) is very different from the other films in terms of car use. In this film there are really only JDM cars and I really like those kinds of cars. The other films don't really feature many JDM cars anymore and I personally think that's a shame. I would always remember this movie as the one in which these cars did appear. Also, the actors play their roles well! The music chosen fits perfectly with the film!

During my high school days, I was quite a fan of this franchise. As my taste in movies changed, I let go of this franchise pretty quickly. I thought it was too brainless, mediocre acting and the series never seemed to end.
Today, after at least 8 years, revised this part again. This time with a completely different attitude and I have to admit… he really liked it.
In the early days of this franchise, the concept was very different. Here it was still about street racers and car heists. The formula here was quite different and I notice that I liked it a lot. The franchise is now known as a real, over the top 13-in-a-dozen action flick. And you would almost forget that in 2001 it started like this.
In particular, the car heists and the races are pretty cool. But the chemistry between the actors is also very good. The story rattles and the acting is not always that good, but… it really suited me better than I expected.
