“So, you're... Ninja Mutant Turtle Teenagers?”

“When you put it like that, it sounds ridiculous!”

I used to be a big fan of the four Ninja Turtles and I've played all the old movies and series in gray. In my opinion those films were quite serious but here it is all too childish and unfortunately the dialogues are of a very questionable level. Michelangelo's humor in particular doesn't work at all.

Sure, the story of four super-sized turtles, a talking rat and Shredder and his "foot clan" is ridiculous, but a little more creativity and inspiration could have been used. Megan Fox is beautiful, but an actress with only one facial expression (a very sexy facial expression, I was crazy about the too quickly edited and messy-looking action scenes and directors, let's agree on one thing. Fight scenes in slow motion used to be very cool in the Matrix, but now you can't do that anymore.

Cowabonga we are back

Nice that they made a new turtles movie.

It's all extremely entertaining with lots of action and strikingly beautiful cgi.

As a whole, however, it can't match the old brilliant part 2 The secret of the ooze.

But for a franchise reboot, this is a very good start

uh.

Obviously produced by someone like Bay. I kind of knew it in the first few minutes. Only Bay isn't in the director's chair, it doesn't matter, and yet the results seem the same. You'd almost think Bay directed it after all.

Visually it's pretty good, too bad the action never gives a kick. In terms of acting, I can't do much with the turtles themselves. Those voices are okay, but often just a bit too present. Not to mention Fox. She really should have stopped after the second Transformers.

The absolute best thing about the film is the camera work. Strong, well shot action scenes full of adrenaline and kick. It's a shame that the action itself mostly fails. Usually there's very little in it that's really fun except a lot of CGI fights.

The first part of the film, in particular, seems to last forever. 0.0 interesting action and apart from a lot of screaming and "Woohoo" shouting from the turtles there is little to do. It could have been better, but the comedy lets it down.

Outside of that, the fun action scenes (Scene where they roll off the mountain with cars and all) are often not that fun due to the bad comedy in between and the somewhat reserved and somewhat childish action. You would almost think that it comes straight out of the children's series itself.

But it is often very well shot. The action could have been really great. The director certainly had the craft under control. Liebesman has talent. I'd love to see more action from him, but I'd rather he not be influenced too much by Bay scripts.
