I thought I hadn't seen Salt yet and at the beginning of the film, I noticed the enormous resemblance between this film and Die another day. Looking through the reviews to see if I was the only one, I came across a text by... myself. Apparently I had already seen the movie 3 years ago. So I didn't remember much of the film and even now it is no more than an average film. Due to the large budget and the many action scenes, it is not immediately boring, but it lacks the necessary spices to linger afterwards. Lots of clichés and nothing really memorable. Perhaps Jolie's strangulation attempt, as Onderhond says in the previous opinion, but that is mainly because the little spice stands out among the rest. In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. Wondering if I will set up the film again with great surprise within 3 years to determine that I have seen the film (already 2 times).

Salt is an incredibly tasty action film in which the viewer is often misled and there is an atmosphere of paranoia and chilling tension throughout the film. Unrealistic escapes? check. An unbreakable Angelina Jolie? check. Amateur actions by CIA, FBI and Secret Service agents? check. A bad guy's plan of luck and luck? check.
You don't look at Salt for the logical plot developments and depth, but to be entertained and to see fat action scenes at an incredibly fast pace. Salt is in top gear from the start and only slows down slowly. The many twists in the story ensure that at some point the film gets caught up in its own urge to surprise and the plot holes are up for grabs. But luckily you don't think about that until after the movie is over, and during the movie you can enjoy the adventures of Evelyn Salt and her "mission". Who Salt is exactly is kept hidden for a long time and when that is finally revealed, not all the puzzle pieces fit, but enough so that it didn't really bother me. Jolie is good at these kinds of roles and despite being very skinny she manages to impress with just one look. I always like Liev Schreiber and Chiwetel Ejiofor and this was no different. Salt is just a fat action thriller with no pretensions to be anything more than just that. And sometimes that's enough.
