Never Back Down plot
"Win or lose... Everyone has their fight."
Jake Tyler is a rebellious teenager who moves to Florida with his family as his younger brother is starting a professional tennis career there. In his previous hometown, Jake was a star player on his football team, but in his new hometown, he's an outsider with a bad reputation. When he's invited to a big party by his classmate Baja, Jake seems to get a chance to maybe settle in and make some friends. Once at the party, Jake is humiliated by Ryan McCarthy in a fight against his will. After this humiliation, he meets another classmate who tells him about a fight club where they practice the sport Mixed Martial Arts. Jake is very curious and goes in search of the fight club where he meets Jean Roqua. At first he is not interested in Jake, but after a while he takes him under his wing and teaches Jake the tricks of the trade.

The plot can be described as an exact copy of The Karate Kid, but then covered in an MMA jacket. This does not alter the fact that it was quite entertaining and ultimately a reasonable film within the genre.

“Never give up, never back down!”
Good fighting/coming of age movie. The concept of teens and fight clubs is interesting in itself, and director Wadlow also tackles deeper issues such as losing a parent, peer pressure, parental pressure and bullying. A little superficially worked out, but it's sufficient. Excellent acting also from Faris, Gigandet, Hounsou, Hope, Peters and the lovely Amber Heard. The film doesn't shy away from the sports clichés, but it worked. Never Back Down is just a nice fighting movie with a smooth story and decent acting.

I've seen much better movie in this genre, and what a terrible k*t soundtrack. Djimon Hounsou is doing great as a trainer, the rest of the kindergarten cast didn't appeal to me. mediocre video
