Archaeologist Sigurd Svendsen has been fascinated by the Oseberg ship, a well-preserved Viking ship for years. The only inscription in the nave reads in mysterious runes: "Man knows but little". Sigurd is convinced that the Oseberg ship holds the key to the mystery of Ragnarok, the end of time in Norse mythology. When his friend Allan finds similar runic marks on a rock from northern Norway, Sigurd suspects the runic marks are a treasure map. They set out on an expedition and their adventure leads them to the no man's land between Norway and Russia, which has been abandoned for decades. Here Sigurd discovers the true meaning of the runic signs - a terrible secret.
